As a NJDOE-approved full day educational program for children with disabilities, the Phoenix Centers' curriculum is based on the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, and provides a wide range of special events and field trips to augment the academic curriculum. The Phoenix Centers´ Behavior Management Team is extensively trained in Applied Behavior Analysis and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, and works closely with certified social workers, a school psychologist and a consulting psychiatrist, to develop uniform therapeutic interventions in support of each student's behavioral needs. The Phoenix Center offers a full range of related services, including counseling and psychological services, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, health services, and an innovative program that helps relationships become the vehicle for learning interactions called the Bridge to Learning Program. Transition to adult life requires preparation and practice. The Phoenix Center is proud to be the first private school in the state to receive approval for its supported employment programs. Field trips and other co-curricular events provide important opportunities for community-based learning and real-world problem-solving, create a sense of community among students, and provide opportunities to celebrate successes and achievements. Phoenix Center Physical Education and Art Programs follows the NJDOE Core Curriculum Content Standards. With a full size gymnasium on campus, aquatics program, basketball, bowling, pep squad and therapeutic riding programs, our students have plenty of opportunities for exercise and physical play. Art and music education and therapy, percussion ensemble, melodica ensemble, junior and senior chorus, dance troupe and drama club provide creative learning experiences for all students.
